Program Code: SET90–FOUNDLIT

The Foundational Literacy & Writing Skills program provides targeted instruction in letter recognition, phonological awareness, early reading, early writing, functional literacy, and basic numeracy. Through a supportive and structured learning environment, participants build confidence, strengthen foundational literacy skills, and make measurable progress toward independent reading and writing. The program prepares learners for continued education, workforce training, and employment opportunities while fostering lifelong learning and personal growth.

This 90-Day program meets the requirements of the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) for Skill Enhancement Training (SET). It is not a formal retraining plan, but a short-term educational program designed to develop essential literacy, writing, and basic math skills for adults with little or no prior literacy experience.

Prerequisites: No prior literacy experience is required. Students must complete an intake assessment to determine appropriate placement.
